When I found myself still struggling with cystic acne in my thirties, I knew it was caused by something. During my career as an intelligence analyst with the military and FBI, I noticed my skin was effortlessly clear when I lived in certain countries. But it wasn't until I spent a year in Scotland as a Fulbright scholar that I finally figured it out. My acne was caused by consuming fluoride.

In 2011, I posted a free guide online about how to heal fluoride-induced acne. I thought it was a rare condition. Yet so many of the people who read my guide were able to heal their acne by avoiding fluoride, too. How was that possible?

I dove into the scientific literature on acne and soon realized the story of acne and the story of fluoride are deeply intertwined. In The Hidden Cause of Acne, I elucidate my bold conclusion that fluoride is the root cause of the modern acne epidemic.

This was my face on fluoride.

I drank fluoridated water for most of my life without questioning the health authorities who said it was good for me. Once I carefully studied the history of fluoridation, I realized this was a costly mistake. The science and public health policy behind public water fluoridation have been corrupted by powerful organizations that have a deep self-interest in maintaining the myth that fluoride is a safe and effective way to prevent cavities. Did you know fluoride was the leading air pollutant at the time fluoridation was introduced, or that the fluoride added to water comes directly from the smokestacks of a phosphate fertilizer plant in Florida?

About the Book

The Hidden Cause of Acne: How Toxic Water is Affecting Your Health and What You Can Do About It

The Hidden Cause of Acne by Melissa Gallico was published in May 2018 by Healing Arts Press with a foreword by Stephen Harrod Buhner. It is available in paperback and ebook format from booksellers throughout the United States and internationally.

"If you can, put aside the natural 'conspiracy theory' knee-jerk reaction. Take a critical eye to Gallico's work and I think you will find a strong case for carefully reassessing fluoridation. Removing fluoride cleared up my son's skin after many years of acne and this book identifies surprising sources beyond drinking water."

Dave from Blue Ridge Summit, PA

"Your book saved my life. A million times thank you because you helped me avoid going crazy. I never would have thought to suspect my toothpaste or my tap water."

Irene from Houston, TX

"It was harder than expected but once I finally figured out a sustainable way to limit my fluoride intake my acne was just about gone in two weeks. Pretty unbelievable as I've had it for ten years. I would recommend reading this before you pursue a treatment with adverse side affects."

Alex from New York, NY

"It totally made sense. I cried."
